With every challenge comes opportunity. With every opportunity there is a challenge. This cohort looks at five of the biggest challenges facing the church in the Western world, helping us to better understand our times and look for ways to see churches strengthened and the gospel advanced in the days ahead. We will look in greater detail at the elements of a “be true to yourself” mindset, the shrinking of Christianity into little more than a personal and privatized faith, the moral revolution that casts traditional Christian morality as harmful and repressive, the rise of intuitional spiritualities and pseudo-religions, and the fragmentation and polarization of our increasingly online world.
This cohort will help you connect the dots, better understand people in your neighborhood and in your church, and offer ways of bearing gospel witness in the world to which we’ve been called.
With your registration you’ll receive:
- The Great American Church Migration by Michael Graham
- Making Sense of Us video curriculum
- The Gospel After Christendom edited by Collin Hansen, Ivan Mesa, and Skyler R. Flowers
Are you on a church staff or considering this cohort as a group at a church? If so, we want you to check out this brief PDF with three ideas of how to use this cohort as a group and instructions for deep discounts.
We never want finances to hinder someone from participating. If you want to participate in this cohort and need financial assistance, please send us an email and tell us more about your circumstances (cohorts@thegospelcoalition.org).
Our Certificate in Cultural Apologetics recognizes that a person has taken four cohorts (the equivalent of one year) from The Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics. Learn more about our online certificate program.
* We are unable to offer refunds for The Keller Center cohorts
* Registration WITH books closes on February 9 and LATE Registration WITHOUT books closes on February 15.
* All sessions will be recorded and available for streaming or download at your leisure in perpetuity, so if you can’t make it live, the material is still readily available
* NOTE: we are unable to ship to those outside the United States but please use the coupon code “BOOKS15” for 15 percent off as our courtesy to international participants. You may also use coupon code “BOOKS15” if you DO NOT WANT the books for the cohort.

Explore in greater detail the predominant worldview of our society, newer trends rising in the wake of the loneliness that flows from this outlook on life, and how the gospel provides a better vision for humanity.
Explore the relegation of religion to morality, and to personal and private expressions of spirituality, along with a challenge to proclaim the gospel as public truth.
Explore the implications of the sexual revolution and societal views of Christian teaching on sex and marriage, along with opportunities to minister in a world of sexual revolution refugees.
Explore the rise of the unaffiliated and the various pseudo-religions and intuitional spiritualities people are turning to as traditional religious adherence falls away, along with opportunities to bear gospel witness in a world of “do-it-yourself” spirituality.
Explore how dechurching has accelerated from what we thought was 40m US adults to 63m US adults and practical steps that can be taken as both individuals and as the institutional church to mitigate these things.
Explore a high altitude quantitative overview of the American religious landscape with the purpose of then zooming in to explore the missiological implications for your particular community.
Look at the rise of polarization and fragmentation due to social media and physical isolation, along with opportunities for the church to provide a thicker sense of Christlike community.
